About Edie
Edie Grace is a multidisciplinary, neurodivergent artist originally from Ngambri/Canberra, now based in Naarm/Melbourne. Her current focus is textile art and upcycled fashion, incorporating unconventional materials into everyday wear and transforming rubbish into art. She aims to create nostalgia and connect with the inner child through the use of familiar characters, bright colours and vintage fabrics.
Art has been a huge part of Edie’s life since she was young. She grew up surrounded by creatives of all realms and was always immersed in a fantasy like world. From going to fringe shows to playing dress ups in her mums vintage clothing shop, art and fashion surrounded Edie. She became fascinated by the sensory side of things - the colour, the textures, how these things make us feel and the different emotions that can be evoked from a particular artwork or garment.
Since moving states Edie’s creative practice has flourished, having gained opportunities to exhibit her art in galleries, collaborate with other creatives and further her sewing skills through study at Second Stitch Studio.
